Busy weekend!

This weekend was a good one.  On Saturday we drove out to Sand Canyon, which is just West of Cortez.  We hadn't been there since about 2005, when Holli was little.  The weather was awesome.  Sand Canyon is a really neat place to explore.  There were lots of trails.  There were many rocks with holes in them for the kids to play on and around.  Also interesting are the Pueblo dwellings from the 1200's.  After Sand Canyon we went to Dolores.  There is a fun playground there which is built like a big castle.  Unfortunately, Dolores is at about 6700 ft and was still under snow.  We played for a little while and then went to the Dolores Brewrey.  We used to go there a lot when we lived right down the road in Mancos.  We split a pizza and our favorite "selfish salad".

On Sunday, we loaded up the kids and dogs and hiked up the Colorado Trail.  You access it from 25th Street in Durango.  To date, this is still my favorite hiking trail I can think of .  One day, I'd like to hike or bike it to the end, which is in Denver.  It was still pretty much under snow.  It's amazing that the dogs like to go from the snow to the river water and then back to the snow without showing any signs of being cold.  After the Colorado trail, we went to the Rec Center where we went swimming, sliding down the huge water slide, and jumping off the diving board.  They opened the rope swing which is always a blast too.

Dylan just about fell asleep in the hot tub at the Rec Center after our busy weekend.  We went home to chill out for a while and watch Oliver and Company.  A bit later, I headed into town for our volleyball game.  Despite being short one girl, we beat up on the Durango Herald team.  We have a real nut on our team named Brian who is just absolutely goofy the whole time.  The other team was getting frustrated being beat up on by a bunch of misfits.  It was fun to win our second game in a row.  We're on a winning streak!!
